What is new in version 3.10 ?
(9 February 2004)
- Support for windows using unicode characters to display texts. Now Everest it's working on Japanese systems (for example). To read more about this, click here.
- Multilanguage interface. Supported languages: French (translated by Mitu Carbidu), English, German (translated by Alexandra Alecu), Romanian and Spanish (translated by Carlos Curia). Now you have the possibility to create interface in your language with an internal visual editor.
- Regular expression based search - now you have new options to search in Everest Dictionaries. How to use this facility: In Everest Dictionary (main window) use one of the following wildcards: * ? [ ] in your searching string
- ? - for zero or a one letter.
Example: ma?a returns mama or maya
- * - for zero or any number of letters .
Example: m*a returns ma or media or Maria
- [ ] in one of the following situations:
- [n:a..z] - for n
letters in the set [a..z].
Example: [6:a..i] returns abegge or decide or
headed.
Another example: [20:a..z] will return all words of 20 characters: Contradistinguishing or
Crystallographically or Philoprogenitiveness or . . . . or . . . . or . . . .
- [n:a,b,c,d] - for n
letters in the set [a,b,c,d].
Example: [4:a,b,d] returns abba or baba or
dabb.
- Any combinations from 1 and 2.
Example [8:a..g,s,w..z] will return Edgeways or Sassabye
- Any combination of *, ? or [ ]. For example e[3:a..e,s]f*l will return easeful
This string pattern matching it's much slower than a standard search. It can take few seconds (depends on the number of dictionaries loaded in Everest) so be patient when you use this facility.
